Music that feels like clouds

Updated: 3 days ago

“Sometimes things disappear from view. Not because they cease to exist, but because they wait for you to tune back into their frequency.”

That’s exactly how it feels with Lucy Dreams. I’ve known them for a while discovered them at just the right moment, then lost touch for a bit. But as it often goes with music that truly resonates: it always finds its way back. And if it’s the real deal… it returns deeper, richer. That’s precisely what’s happening now.

They’re still here. And how. Not just alive and dreaming, but evolving, expanding and now ready for a tour through Japan. The Austrian duo (plus their mysterious digital band member Lucy) hasn’t just taken a path they float down it. What they create isn’t a genre. It’s not a gimmick. It’s pure atmosphere. SonicWaveArtPop is what they call it and for once, a self coined genre actually hits the nail on the head.

Their second latest track is a perfect example of how to craft music that feels as light as air yet as nourishing as a warm meal. Cloud like. Almost heavenly. Richly layered, finely tuned to the smallest detail. Every sound lands exactly where it should, every texture meticulously sculpted. It’s like resting your head in a sunset, wrapped with a easy floating bass line.

“Stars” that’s the title unfolds slowly, almost shyly. The vocals feel like velvet in stereo. Celestial, but never kitsch. Your eyes open, not with a jolt, but gently as if the light is inviting you to keep looking. It rises slowly yet disarmingly, taking a brief pause to let you breathe… before carrying you those final steps to the summit and once you’re up there, where the stars live, you’ll keep on shining.

"Stars will fill you. That’s what Lucy Dreams sounds like. So beautiful."

And yes it echoes the golden era of lounge. That Air like elegance. But Lucy Dreams doesn’t just nod to the past. They take that heritage, toss it in a cosmic blender, and reinvent the genre with a twist only they could dream up. That’s the magic: it feels timeless and completely contemporary. As if they’ve always been here, but we’ve only just tuned in.

What’s also striking: where their music once spoke entirely for itself mysterious, untouchable, almost abstract the creators have become more visible. Human. And instead of diminishing the mystery, it adds a new layer. Because once you see who’s behind it, you start to realize how much love, vision, and courage it holds. The mystique hasn’t vanished. It’s simply become more tangible in a human way.

“They don’t stop at the horizon. Where others slow down, they accelerate but in a kind of slow motion, a reversed thrust. Lounge music… turned inside out.”
