A Synthpop special by my friend Espen Kraft. Espen explains. Polyrhythm, also called Cross-rhythm, is the simultaneous combination of contrasting rhythms in a musical composition. It can be simple, it can be complex. I use it occasionally to make the listening experience more exciting and to have more fun making the song. I show you here how I used a mix of polyrhythms and mixed time signatures like 4/4, 6/8, 7/8 within the same song. In addition, pushing and pulling separate drum hits before or back of the rest of the rhythm can also make interesting textures. Don't use techniques only for drums, I use this on some of the synths and on the bass as well in this song. Thank you Espen.
